Select "Submit" from the menu and enter your detilas. Select the browse button and locate your video file from your computer and load onto our server.

 

# How do I vote on films?

You must be a registered user to rate and comment on videos. Rateing and commenting can be found underneath the video itself.

# Can I enter more than one film?

Yes, but you are limited to one film per assignment and each submission must be a different film. But, you may only be a winner for one assignment.

# What happens if I miss the 7th July entry date?

If you can’t get your film in to us by then, don’t worry. Finalists of Framing British Muslims will automatically appear as part of the Official Selection of the Insight Film Festival and be judged by Insight’s global jury and screened at a gala event on 2 December 2011 in Manchester.

 

# What file formats can I upload?

WMV, AVI, MOV, or MPG file formats; files cannot exceed 100 MB.

 

# Do I have to be a member of Framing British Muslim website to vote or submit?

Yes, you must register with us so we can verify that you are in the U.K. to submit or vote. This film contest is also an opportunity to interact with other FBM members, and be a part of the larger community.

 

# What rights am I agreeing to when I submit my film?

See Rules and Regulations. In order for us to air your film on Framing British Muslim and on our website, you will have to give us an unlimited non-exclusive license for just the submitted version of your film.

 

# Why are only people in the UK eligible to enter and vote?

The goal of the film contest is to educate people about the British Muslim experience, which is why both submissions and voting are only open to people in the U.K.

 

# I took some music off of a CD. Is this okay?

All music used in your film submission must have releases or clearances from whoever owns the music rights.

 

# Do you have to be Muslim to enter?

No, this contest is open to anyone in the United Kingdom.

 

# How can I tell if my film is “Muslim” enough?

We are looking for compelling stories about the British Muslim experience; that will be the major criteria.

 

# I uploaded my film but I don’t see it on the site yet. What happened?

Your film is still under review by our moderators. You will receive email notification when your submission has been accepted and is live on the site or has been found unacceptable due to stated criteria".

 

# I’ve just seen an inappropriate comment, what can I do?

All registered members have the ability to flag inappropriate comments. These are then reviewed by the moderator who will decide if these are inappropriate or not.

 

# Contest Rules: Submitting an entry

  1. Productions must be submitted in approved digital formats.

  2. Entries must be received by 23:59 on 31 October 2011.

  3. There is no limit on the number of productions you may submit.

  4. The named individual will be a considered the ‘Principal Contact’ for the entry.  This may be a director, producer, agent, distributor, teacher etc. The Principal Contact will be the sole recipient of any prize or award, and distribution of any prize or award is at their discretion. The only exception is the “Young Voice” category where someone over 18 may also be named.

  5. The Principal Contact must have authority to grant permission to the Contest to display and/or manipulate the production in all aspects relevant to the Festival and its promotion only. Such permission must be granted to the Contest.

  6. Productions may be up to a maximum of 30 minutes in length for the “Your Story” category, 90 second for the “90 Second Take” category and 5 minutes for the “Young Voices” category including titles and credits. Extracts of longer films are accepted.

  7. All films submitted must be in English or be accompanied by English subtitles where necessary.

  8. Entrants must submit only their own original work and warrant that the grant of this licence will not infringe the copyright or any other rights whatsoever of any third party. Failure to disclose could result in criminal prosecution.

  9. The submission of a production is taken to signify that full clearance has been obtained from all contributors/actors in the Production and all other elements, including music and any other copyrighted material used in the Production.

  10. The Principal Contact will indemnify and keep the Contest indemnified from and against all and any claims, costs, damages, expenses, actions suffered or incurred by the Festival arising out of any breach of the warranties hereby given.

  11. Acceptance of these rules is a condition of entry of the Material, and receipt of the Production amounts to acceptance of the rules.

# Contest Rules: The Festival

 

  1. A selection of films including those of finalists may be shown at the gala event in Manchester on 2 December 2011 and other screening at the discretion of the Contest.  The organisers shall not be obliged to make use of any material and shall not be liable for any loss of publicity or enhancement of reputation or otherwise.

  2. The awards/prizes will be announced and distributed in Manchester on 2 December 2011 during the Insight Festival 2011. Unless specified, entrants shall be responsible for their own arrangements to attend such award ceremonies, although the Contest will endeavour to facilitate travel where possible.

  3. Where an award is made, it will be to the Principal Contact.

The decision of the Framing British Muslims judging panel shall be final and without right of recourse. In the event of any dispute, the competition organisers’ opinion shall be final without right of recourse.
